'A Flight In The Midst Of Cherry Blossoms'- A Painting.
A symbolic flower of the spring, cherry blossoms are widely found in Japan and Spain. They also symbolize a time of renewal and the fleeting nature of life, and so their lifespan is very short, almost only two weeks. These beautiful flowers come in all shades of pink, white and even yellow or green.
When you are surrounded by a faint smell of lilac or rose, accented with creamy vanilla or almond like aromas, you know you are standing in a field of cherry blossoms. These flowers have made many appearances in the popular Japanese hand-drawn or computer animations, called Anime.
These flowers are known by a different name in Japan, the "Sakura", where they are symbolized as an omen of good fortune and an emblem of love and affection. Cherry blossoms have different meanings in different countries of the world, like in China where they are recognized as a symbol of power and strength.
Cherry blossoms are also often linked to mortality because of their radiant beauty and rapid death. With these gorgeous flowers as inspiration, I made my first three canvas painting. This painting is my own idea, where I tried to capture the divine essence of Cherry blossoms. The idea of the painting struck me during my summer vacation last year, and more research of cherry blossoms inspired me to do this painting. It is a mixed-media painting, the cherry blossoms painted with pink and white hues of acrylic, and the backdrop and birds painted with watercolors.
I took pictures of the painting at every stage just to know how it would look like at the end, as this time I did not have a reference to work with. You can see all the stages of the painting in order below, starting with the basic sketch(which is not very clear)(*nervous laughter*), and with the final result displayed on a wall.
