'The Buddha'- A Madhubani Painting.

Welcome back! It's been a long time since I posted and this is my first post of the year!! With tenth grade wrapped up and plenty of free time on my hands, I decided to get back to painting. This time I drew inspiration from the Buddha, the Awakened or the Enlightened.

We had a lesson in school about the Buddha and his teachings, and I have been intrigued ever since.

The Buddha was a spiritual teacher, meditator, philosopher, and religious leader who lived in ancient India. The lesson referred to the wisdom of the Buddha about one inscrutable kind of suffering, that is, dealing with Death. The Buddha explained that Death is inevitable and Grief is universal. He preached that all mortals are subject to Death and are carried off one by one, like an ox that is led to the slaughter. In order to succeed in life, one must draw out the arrow of lamentation and learn to deal with Death. His wisdom and understanding has clearly come across in this sermon and inspired several people to take up Buddhism as a religion.

Several celebrities who are Buddhists are Kate Hudson, Steve Jobs, Tina Turner, David Bowie and Benedict Cumberbatch to name a few.

You can have a look at my painting below which has been inspired by the ascetic quality of the All-knowing Buddha. It is a watercolor madhubani done on a 50by70 canvas and is the biggest canvas I have ever done. I had loads of fun doing this painting and plan to do more soon. Tell me if you like this painting or just the thought behind it or even both and leave a like below;) I look forward to your comments!:))

Much Love,
